District News & City Council Updates
Downtown Cleanup
The DSBIA maintenance team is actively cleaning downtown following the festivities, and this work will continue over the next several weeks.
Pressure washing of the closed portion of State Street will begin Thursday, August 20, and continue one block per day until complete. Storm drains will remain covered throughout the cleaning process. In September, we will also refresh the mulch in landscaped areas throughout the district.

A brief description of the concern
State Street Master Plan
Looking ahead, the State Street Master Plan is expected to return to City Council on September 1 for review and potential adoption. Help DSBIA ensure the design for State Street is truly flexible, accessible to all and supports the needs of our diverse business district year round by sharing your views with City Council in advance of the meeting.
ReStore Grand Opening!
Celebrate the grand opening of Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County's new ReStore location! Join them on Wednesday, August 26, at 400 State Street for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 AM, followed by the official opening to the public at 10:00 AM. Be among the first to explore the new location and shop for a great cause!
The Santa Barbara Independent is turning 40, and throwing a celebration to honor four decades of community, connection, and local journalism. On Saturday, August 29, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, they are inviting all of Santa Barbara to join them for a giant block party in the heart of the Presidio Neighborhood: INDY40 Fest.
UCSB Arts & Lectures Free Summer Cinema: "Mixtapes & Misfits"
The Summer Film Series brings classic and contemporary films to the Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Garden each Friday evening at 8:30 PM in July and August. Presented in partnership with UCSB Arts & Lectures and the Santa Barbara County Office of Arts & Culture, the series offers free outdoor screenings in one of Santa Barbara's most iconic public spaces.
